Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes at Kauri Park Nurseries?
Life at Kauri Park is fun and we love to share our experience with our customers. We love taking our customers on site tours of our world-leading nursery but we have also decided to bring our nursery to you through a series of photos, video’s and stories about our nursery in action.
We have recently captured the heart and hard work of our nursery through a photographer’s lens. View some of the different aspects of ‘Life at Kauri Park’ below:
Seed collection is a very key activity at Kauri Park. 18 – 24 months prior to a plant delivery, Grant and his seed collection team gather the many precious seeds which are the start of the whole cycle. Our Seed collection team work in all of the main ecological regions of New Zealand, ensuring we have correctly eco-sourced seed for projects as they arise
Production at Kauri Park is a fast paced sleek operation. Between 9 and 10 million plants are produced each year, the bulk of this planting is done in about 100 working days from 1st October to the 28th February. We use highly automated systems and latest technology to enable this quantity of work to be done in such a short timeframe
Once the plants are on the weedmat the care for them must continue for a few more months. The plants need caring for in order to be delivered to the customer in the very best quality possible. There is hardly a weed growing as the teams flush through the nursery daily removing the pest species
Every year the Sales, Marketing, Operations and Administration teams come together for a day at a site away from the nursery. This day is purely for brain-storming and thinking outside the square. Every department of Kauri Park is analysed and the status quo is challenged
