Kunzea ericoides (kanuka)
Kunzea ericoides is found throughout New Zealand. Kanuka (comman name) can reach heights of 6-8m. It is a primary nursery species that often establishes in conjunction with Manuka. Over a period of years it will gradually make way for long lasting forest species such as podocarps and beeches. It will survive for 200-250 years. It has small narrow dark green leaves, with small white flowers that appear in abundance during the summer. Very hardy tolerating drought, frosts and poor soils. Perfect for revegatation.
