Victoria Park Tunnels was a challenging working environment with logistics delivering plants during 2-3am in the morning, to mesh with the other associated construction activity that was happening at the same time on this project.
Kauri Park worked closely with HEB Landscapes and the landscape architects to comply with the clients selective demands. Kauri Park were scrutinized carefully for its quality. If a species did not meet the specifications required, it was rejected and replaced.
Planet & Eco-Leadership
Victoria Park Tunnels is situated at the heart of Auckland City with a major focus on visual landscape including designer noise walls, high end gardens and street furniture. It was designed by Boffa Miskell and implemented by HEB Landscapes. This project, while still being a Transit NZ project, was somewhat different to other Transit NZ projects that Kauri Park had been involved with. The design criteria and specifications were far more stringent given the high profile location of the project. All the grades on average were one grade larger compared to previous Transit NZ projects and there was a lot more use of designer plants rather than native reveg species.
The construction ran late on this project which meant the landscape aspect of this contract was finished after the road had been opened. Kauri Park’s fully accredited delivery team worked with NZTA and HEB to ensure the each delivery was coordinated around the safety of the public.
This project is a show case commercial landscape design in down town Auckland City.
