This was an ambitious project with large quantities of revegetation species for the steeper areas, as well as amenity species for street landscaping along with wetland species for the wetland sites.

Kauri Park were awarded the supply of plants to this project from a presentation made by Kauri Park to Grasshopper Properties. Grasshopper Properties were impressed with the magnitude of Kauri Parks nursery, and by the supporting infrastructure and professionalism that Kauri Park were able to offer. These would prove to be key ingredients to the success of such a large scale project.

This project taxed Kauri Park as originally the quantity ordered was 200,000 plants in total.  Within the first year orders were added to exponentially with the final quantity being about 1,000,000 plants.  Kauri Park had to adapt quickly to rapidly increase its supply whilst maintaining quality. Kauri Park had their trucking fleet delivering the plants around the clock to keep up the supply to the planting teams.

The partnership was a huge success and over the 4 years of development the results were apparent for all to see.

Planet & Eco-Leadership

The Lakes, Tauranga was a major residential development which took over 4 years to complete. The development set new industry standards for the size and range of landscaping including reserve and esplanade plantings, revegetation, walkways, riparian and wetland plantings, street landscaping and residential landscaping. There were also structural art landscaping. Jasmax included a wide range of native, amenity and wetland species in the landscape design. All revegetation and wetland species for this project were eco sourced from the surrounding region.

Shared Success

As the development progressed the public were able to appreciate the quality of the subdivision, enjoying its playgrounds and walkways and the overall beauty of the landscaping, which in turn lead to sections selling faster than the developer has been able to offer.

This development has been a showcase project for Tauranga, and has facilitated the increase in the population of this beautiful city.
